Pub 44 Judging Liveblog: Day 1

Pub 44 Judging Liveblog: Day 1 The day has finally arrived. SPD Pub 44 judging weekend kicked off this morning; more than 60 of the industry's brightest lights started the three-day process of winnowing more than 6,100 entries down to the very best work of 2008.
Day 1 judging involves screening all 75 of the Magazine of the Year entries, as well as the Creature Feature charity category. Judges are required to pore through every MoY entry, rating each on a scale of 1 to 5. The top scoring entries will advance to the final round on Sunday when the Magazine of the Year will be determined. Don't forget, this year, all magazines compete against one another, both newsstand and non-newsstand in the same mega-category. The top dog will be announced at the Gala, Friday, May 8.
