The Cooper Union + the TDC Are Taking You Back to School
Spurred by the resurgence of lettering in design today, and the ways that digital tools are enhancing the process, The Cooper Union and the Type Directors Club have partnered together to create The Typeface Design Certificate Program, a first of its kind in North America.
Specifically created to include graphic designers as well as those who are already type practitioners, students gain a deep appreciation of type-specific relevant topics like pen and brush lettering, Python programming and (SPD competition favorites) non-Latin alphabets. Through a series of instructor lectures, hands-on classes, discussions and guest-lectures from type luminaries, students will, at the end of the year's program, be able to design original typefaces and lettering. Fall term begins October 4th, and the application deadline is August 31, so put your dog days to use and get your application together now!
All details at the Cooper Type website here.
**We'll leave it up to one of you program grads to get into it with Kanye about the whole typeface vs. fonts issue. We know how he takes bad news...
