Bespoke Magazine No. 12: Kindling Quarterly
For the 48th SPD Pub competition and gala, Co-chairs Courtney Murphy and Marshall McKinney sought to acknowledge the "bespokeness" that adds interest to our increasingly homogenous world, celebrating publishers both large and small that are creating customized publications with an emphasis on individuality.
Download your PUB 48 competition entry form here and get involved (the standard deadline has passed but you can still enter with an additional late fee until January 25th).
The next bespoke pubs you may may not be aware of: Kindling Quarterly. Check out their Winter launch issue after the jump.
Kindling Quarterly is an exploration of fatherhood through essays, interviews, editorials, art, and photography. With the release of our first issue, we aim to present a thoughtful dialogue about fatherhood that is missing from the media landscape. While primarily directed at fathers, Kindling Quarterly appeals to a growing and diverse audience who are interested in creativity, community, and parenting. Kindling Quarterly playfully assesses and celebrates the multitude of experiences that form contemporary fatherhood.
Kindling Quarterly is self-published by its founders; editor David Michael Perez and creative director August Heffner, both new fathers and first-time publishers. Perez is writer and co-founder/director of FEAST (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics), a public dinner/arts grant program in Brooklyn. Heffner, formerly an associate creative director at The Museum of Modern Art, is currently design director of Marketing at J.Crew.
Published quarterly, and introduced in January 2013, Kindling Quarterly is 96 pages, perfect-bound and trimmed to 6.5in x 9in.
