SPD 2012 Student Photo Competition

SPD 2012 Student Photo Competition Our 4th annual Student Photo Competition is now officially open. Enter up to 3 photographs in response to this year's theme by Monday, April 9, and take the next step in becoming the person that makes magazines instead of just reading them.

Read on for more details...
Our annual Student Photo Competition is a chance to begin your journey as a working photographer in the world of magazines -- being judged by the best in the field, getting access to mentors that will teach you how to get ahead, and ultimately competing with those image-makers that you currently look up to.

THE 2012 CHALLENGE:
"My Heart Is At War With The Rest Of The World."

Take those words and birth something new. Make a picture that no one has seen before, especially in the context of that phrase. Make a photograph that takes full advantage of that text, that surprises us with its contrast or shocks us with its appropriateness. Make a big idea and take it as far as you can.

At stake is exposure to industry leaders, mentorships with people that make the pictures that you love, and an invitation to SPD's annual black tie gala.

HOW TO SUBMIT:
1. Download the official Call for Entries here, fill out the entry form and have your instructor sign off on it. You can submit up to three photographs, but you can only win once.

2. Scan the signed form from your accredited school and attach it along with your 72 dpi RGB file (no larger than 5M) and send to photos@spd.org. We are accepting digital entries only.

DEADLINE:
Monday, April 9, 2012. All entries with completed forms must be received via email to photos@spd.org by Monday, April 9, 2012 by 5PM EST. Late entries will not be accepted.
The winners will be notified by email on or about April 20, 2012.
