• Job Description:
  The South magazine--the award winning publication that celebrates the style of the new South--has an amazing career opportunity for a full time Art Director or Assistant Art Director in our Savannah, GA office. A successful candidate will be an experienced individual with an innovative and contemporary style. Prior design experience in magazine layout required. An Art Director for The South should be organized, self-starting and possess excellent time management skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Salary to commensurate with experience. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): - Conceiving and executing designs for special publications - Coordinate production of magazine with pre-press house and printer - Acquiring artwork - Assigning freelance projects - Ensuring adherence to budgets and deadlines Qualifications and requirements include: - Ability to present own creative concepts and create original art elements (photography, illustration, typography, graphics) - Outgoing, enthusiastic, self-starting approach - Ability to work with little to no supervision - Excellent communication, organization and computer skills - Prior experience in a design related field - Work closely with publisher and editor to execute and conceptualize our product through photography and design

• Job Requirements: Ideal candidate will also demonstrate a high proficiency in - Expert user of Adobe Creative Suite 3-Professional in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and QuarkXpress, and be skilled in the use of corporate environment programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint as well as repair and troubleshooting of Macintosh Computer Platforms. *Always a plus - PHP, HTML, Flash, Flash scripting and Dreamweaver.
