M. Shanken Communications- Photo Department Intern (unpaid)

The Photo department intern will assist the photo departments of Wine Spectator, Cigar Aficionado, Food Arts and Market Watch magazines in logging in/out photos, returning photos to photographers, sending out invoice requests, mailing out complimentary issues, photo research, calling in photos from outside sources, propping for photo shoots, attending photo shoots and general office duties. It is a good opportunity for someone who has an interest in learning about how a magazine is produced and wants to learn more about editorial photography. By working on the four magazines, you will be exposed to travel, still life, food, life style and fashion photography. In depth knowledge of photography is not necessary but a general understanding of digital photography and resolution is a plus. We are looking for someone who can commit 25-30 hours a week. Photo Intern Field&Stream Magazine

Vanity Fair Art Department

Seeking a responsible and reliable student, or recent graduate as an unpaid intern/part-time assistant to the Design Director of Vanity Fair magazine. The candidate is required to commit to two full days per week, as well as Friday afternoons. First and foremost, one must be attentive and a quick learner, capable of working efficiently and thoroughly, while multitasking in a fast-paced environment. It is essential that one is organized and meticulous, and approaches and completes one's tasks in a thoughtful and efficient manner. One is expected to answer and field phone calls for the Design Director and communicate any messages clearly and without confusion. The candidate must also be prepared to act as a liaison between the Art Department and other departments. JAYE seeks a young, innovative student or recent graduate to join the staff as creative director. The magazine is online and work can be completed from a remote location. With overall responsibility for the look and feel of JAYE, the creative director plays a key role in the editorial process, setting the design guidelines and style for the magazine, personally conceiving and designing important pieces in each issue, overseeing the design staff, and brainstorming future issues with the key editorial members.

Freelance Interactive Designer

Men's Health magazine seeks an NYC-area, iPhone-savvy freelancer with experience designing for apps or forms of interactive media. Applicants should have their own equipment and up-to-date design software. Familiarity with popular iPhone applications is required. Applicant should be detail-oriented, a creative problem solver, and self-directed. Must be proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; logo and icon illustration skills a plus.

Parenting Magazine art/photo intern

Parenting Magazine is looking for a creative, motivated art/photo intern. This internship will include opportunities to help produce and attend photo shoots, photo research, and design pages for your portfolio. In addition, the intern will provide administrative support to the art department, including updating the editorial wall, filing, copying, invoice processing, and data input using Filemaker Pro. It is a great experience to learn the way both the art and editorial departments work together to produce a magazine. Skills needed: Photoshop, InDesign, Excel, knowledge of digital file types, acute attention to detail, an ability to work independently. Previous internship in a magazine art department is a plus. Additional Information: This internship is unpaid but college credit is provided. You must be willing to commit to at least 21 hours per week. Good Housekeeping Fall Photo Intern

Good Housekeeping, a magazine of Hearst Corporation, is looking for a photo intern for the Fall 2009 semester. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and very educational. Interns will learn about the daily activities of a large-scale magazine. This includes publishing, photo editing, photo research, and photo shoots. Interns will be primarily responsible for helping the photo team do photo research. However, interns will also be able to visit the in-house studio and go to photo shoots with the editors. In addition, the photo intern will assist the editors in various administrative tasks including contact with photographers worldwide. This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the media industry and to gain experience working for a large media conglomerate. The intern must be able to work 3 days a week for school credit only (no pay). We can be flexible with schedules.

Graphic Design Intern

Boutique Media Group is looking for a graphic design intern to assist the Art Director. You will be working out of our Ossining, New York office. This internship will provide you with valuable real-world experience in page layout, production, as well as advertising and marketing design. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, possesses some background knowledge of design and layout and is a graphic design major or in a related field. You must be proficient in QuarkXPress, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Knowledge of web design would also be greatly desired but is not mandatory. Some of your responsibilities will include: - Working on projects from beginning to end, including concept, design, layout, and approval. - Assisting in the design of house advertisements and various marketing materials including posters, print ads, and web images. - Checking/adjusting images for correct resolution and color space. This is an unpaid internship, however you may use it towards college credit and we will be able to reimburse your travel expenses.

Fall Art Intern for Esquire Magazine

Esquire magazine (Hearst Corporation) is seeking a junior or senior graphic design student for an internship in the Art Department. The intern will assist in the daily workflow of the magazine. Duties will include: updating layouts, minor imaging work, and some design. Candidates should have an interest in magazine publishing, strong working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop. Duration: Fall Semester Applicants must receive college credit for the internship. You must turn in a letter on college letterhead stating you will receive credit. The letter must be signed by a professor, advisor, of the registrar. This position is unpaid. A commitment of 2-3 days a week is required, from 10 am to 6 pm (flexible).
