NEW YORK MAGAZINE, PHOTO DEPT INTERN / SCHOOL CREDIT ONLY

We are looking for someone organized, dedicated and excited to learn how a photo department at a weekly magazine operates. Interns should be very comfortable and effective communicating over the phone, in person, and via e-mail. Photography, art communications majors or an interest in photography and editing preferred. Experience researching images with stock agencies a plus but not required. Interns should have a strong work ethic, be able to work independently, as well as take directions and work as part of a team quickly and efficiently. Responsibilities include photo researching, maintaining photo archives, some general administrative duties, scouting, assisting on photo shoots, assisting in our photographers studio and maintaining the props closet, calling in products, logging-in and returning artwork, being a contributing member during creative meetings, and possibly undertake some photography assignments if skills permit.

Assistant Art Director

Marketing Design Internship

NYLON Magazine is looking for a Marketing Design Intern. Nylon is a small, fast-paced, fun environment so you'll get experience with many different projects. Must be proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and all Microsoft Office Applications. Associate Art Director

Women's Health is looking immediately for a superhero talent-level designer who brings enthusiasm, obsessive compulsive attention to detail, brilliant ideas and the pride to take on the ownership of their workload and really polish their pages to a fine shine, month over month. Specifically, you'd be asked to design and assign for a good portion of the FOB, and a couple features and special projects each issue. On-set art direction will be involved. Lust for, and experience with, conceptual type is a must. Must contribute verbally to all attended meetings, communicate effectively with editors, advocate for the photo and art dept needs in negotiations, be amenable and flexible to change and make changes rapidly, must support the senior team, and report to the Creative Director.

Web Art/Photo Intern for Inc. Magazine

Inc.com is looking for an art/photo intern who will assist our online editorial team with finding art to accompany slide shows and stories that run online. This person will size and prep images and associate them with articles using our content management system. He/she will also produce slide shows and perform additional design/photo/production duties as assigned. An individual with a background in web production, photography, and/or web design is preferred. WIRED Design Intern, Summer

WIRED magazine is currently looking for a design department intern for Summer 2010. The ideal intern can commit 25-30 hours per week from May through September in our San Francisco office. The internship is open to all third and fourth year full-time design students and must be taken for credit. You will participate as an active member of the ASME and SPD award-winning design department, working directly with the art directors, designers, photo department, production staffers, and editors. You'll be expected to help with front-of-book page layout, print out and distribute manuscripts, update and manage the wall of current issue pages, create illustrations in Adobe Illustrator for various parts of the magazine, scan items for the design department, organize all tear sheets and help with award submissions.
