Senior Designer

SENIOR DESIGNER World Wrestling Entertainment Magazine (4 million readership) has an immediate opening for a Senior Designer to join its art team. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years' experience working for a monthly magazine. Job responsibilities include designing pages for all sections of the magazine from front-of-book sections to feature stories. Conceptualizing, assigning and art directing illustration, photo-illustration and information graphics. This individual must have excellent typographic and design skills and should excel at working both independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. A knowledge of production and good understanding of retouching and pre-press is preferred. Skills: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator (CS3). Senior Photo Producer

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is in search of a Senior Photo Producer to work on primarily one of its magazines. Under the guidance of the Photography Director, the Senior Photo Producer is responsible for maintaining a consistent photographic identity for the publication as well as scheduling and producing photography shoots and updating the photography calendars. Responsibilities: ·Oversee the production and scheduling of all photography stories in collaboration with the Deputy Photo Editor, art department and story teams ·Help maintain monthly photo shoot calendars for publishing ·Create and manage budgets ·Manage the invoicing processes and procedures, including approvals, coding and resolving discrepancies between photographers, vendors and accounting ·Hire photographers for stories, obtains estimates; assure that final invoices match estimate, work with junior photo editors to ensure invoices are coded, tracked, processed correctly for above publishing businesses · Hire illustrators for stories. Negotiate rates appropriate for budget and ensure art is received in a timely fashion · Book travel for location shoots · Hire models and hair/make-up stylists, and scout locations as necessary for publishing. Track and maintain model and location releases, and provide certificates of insurance when necessary for all publishing stories. Obtain stylist contracts for hair/make-up stylists as necessary Work with Studio Manager daily to allocate studio space in all in house shoots. In the event that in-house studios are all occupied, research outside studio locations and make necessary bookings/confirmations. Negotiate with outside studios and locations for best possible rate, and take care of all respective paperwork Requirements: - 8+ years experience producing/editing for fashion/lifestyle shoots - Experience creating and managing budgets - Excellent relationships with photographers and industry contacts - A strong background in food photography is a plus - Highly organized, efficient, and resourceful

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Uses Macintosh-based software to design art and copy layouts for the magazine. Maintains current knowledge of new versions of software. • In conjunction with editors, conceptualizes each issue, from planning the look to choosing fonts and colors for covers and inside pages. Proposes direction, gets approval for that direction, and ensures the design transitions smoothly to the Layout Design Team, laying out pages if necessary. • Designs products with creativity and a cooperative attitude toward constructive criticism from the Creative Director, Editor in Chief, Executive Editor and other team members and marketers. • Works with photographers and Photo Studio Team to set up specialty photos for covers, features, recipes, and added-value shots and spot art. • Directs the Photo Studio's work on cover and interior shoots to match the look and vision established at the Editorial planning meetings. • Works with the Photo Studio to select props for photos. Makes vendor recommendations for finding materials to complete special projects. • Directs the selection of stock photos and visuals to embellish stories. Scans photos when necessary. • Participates in overall planning of the product. Follows product through the prepress process. Assists with proofing scatters. • Places house and outside advertisements to suit the established roadmap or as specified by the Sales Team. Ensures that ads augment, not detract from edit pages. • Manages the workflow and traffic between departments for each project, communicating regularly with the editor, the photo studio and the prepress department and updating each accordingly. • Provides training to new employees and interns as requested. • Travels as necessary to direct location shoots. • Performs other duties as assigned, such as helping other departments and creating illustrations, house ads, company graphics or other corporate projects. Required Skills • Strong working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. • Ability and knowledge necessary to direct a photo shoot, especially food shoots. • Good eye for color, page design and photo composition. • A knowledge and appreciation of the food and home cook lifestyle and/or other food related topics in order to understand the target audience. • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. • Ability to faithfully meet project deadlines. • Able to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently. Job Description This temporary-to-full-time-position is responsible for the design and management of all University of West Georgia (UWG) print communication, including advertisements, brochures, banners, merchandise and other items. This includes management of the design work of all direct-reports and interns within the design unit. The Senior Designer will drive the aesthetics, visual design, and/or layout of all presentation materials as well as web-based communications for clients. He/she will also safeguard UWG's brand identity guidelines and monitor all logo and wordmark usage. Responsibilities include: -Manage/art-direct creative projects from concept to completion and translate marketing objectives into creative strategies. Be highly effective in forwarding the brand look and style through all creative pieces. -Along with the marketing account manager, serve as the creative front-person in client meetings, and as key member of the marketing team.
