Leading entertainment news website is seeking a talented art director who will complete a site overhaul already in progress and lead design direction for the future. The candidate will also work with the print design team to create a unified visual identity for the brand. S/he must be eager to stay current with the quickly evolving online universe and have passion for the EW brand.
Experience
Candidate will have at least 5 years' experience designing for large-scale, CSS-controlled websites and must also have a background in magazine design. Experience with user-interface principles, information architecture, and SEO, as well as standard Web product-development processes, is critical. A history of working with sales, marketing, and business development teams is a plus. Experience designing mobile websites and/or apps is also preferred.
The ideal candidate will be a resourceful, collaborative team player with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and time management skills are essential.
Skills
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software, XHTML, CSS, Web-standards-based design, and Flash. (SHOULD WE ADD HTML5, JS--although that is covered by RIA below?)
Responsibilities
The art director will create attractive, brand-appropriate visual webpage layouts and RIA interfaces that satisfy editorial, ad-sales, and IT's requirements.
S/he will work closely with the site's editorial staff and project manager to create and develop all digital products, which include the website and various mobile products (WAP site, the Must List for iPhone and iPad, and other products TBD).
