• Job Description:
  Observer Media Group seeks an Art Director with extensive creative experience, strong visual design skills, and a discerning eye for color, style and design. The Art Director will be responsible for multiple magazine products in the luxury space and will also have an advisory role in the design of The New York Observer print newspaper. This position will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team.

As the editorial teams begins reaching beyond the pages of our flagship weekly, we are searching for an art director to oversee design of the newspaper and new glossies that the Observer brand is introducing to different markets.

• Job Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess the following: 5 years experience in a competitive, deadline-driven environment Experience working with In Design & Illustrator files for magazine print advertising Strong image sourcing and editing skills Experience with directing and producing photo shoots Willingness and enthusiasm to work on production projects. An ideal design team member will possess the following traits and skills: A portfolio that contains design examples from brands in categories parallel to those of Observer Media Groups primary client base (luxury, fashion, beauty, food and travel) Experience applying theories related to color schemes, use of space, typography, usability and visual flow Manage multiple projects from beginning to end Ability to create inspired solutions with tight and changing deadlines Work in a team environment
