DEPUTY ART DIRECTOR

    Martha Stewart Living magazine is currently seeking a Deputy Art Director to work under the direct guidance of the Design Director. The qualified candidate should have a sophisticated design sense, strong grasp of typography, great attention to detail, and possess the ability to manage a project from conception to completion. This individual should excel at working both independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. They also must be able to handle a number of projects at once, and work well under tight deadlines. The Deputy Art Director will design editorial pages, develop story ideas and direct art and photographic content for Martha Stewart Living. Additionally, they will also be responsible for generating concepts and designing layouts for the MSL iPad edition. He/She will also provide design guidance to junior members of the team when needed and undertake other art direction assignments at the request of the Design Director.

  • Job Requirements: 2-3 years art directing experience preferred 5+ years professional graphic design experience Strong typographic expertise and sophisticated visual sense Ability to see and understand the Design Director’s aesthetic Strong grasp on the needs of a team, and ability to problem solve Proficiency in CS5: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator; K4 Hands-on approach to idea generation Should possess an interest and passion in Martha Stewart content areas Digital or iPad experience is a plus
