We're in the heart of basketball country. Last March, three of the four Final Four teams were the home team for our newspapers. And, if college basketball isn't your thing, we also lead visual design for the Colts, Bengals, Reds, and Pacers, and for events like the Kentucky Derby, Indy 500, Brickyard 400, the 2014 PGA Championship and the 2015 Final Four.
The right candidates should be highly collaborative, creative, possess graphic design know-how, and work well with others. If you can show these qualities in your clips, then this is a great opportunity for either the experienced visual journalist or the less-experienced but skilled up-and-comer. We will host design for three big-city dailies, and quite a few small to mid-sized papers.
This is a full-time gig, no freelancers. This position typically works an evening shift (average hours 4-12). You must relocate to Louisville - which was just recently named the No. 1 travel destination in the U.S. for 2013 by Lonely Planet (who called it the new Portland). Seriously, it's a great town with amazing food, the best bourbon cocktails and a super-low cost of living. We do pay a relocation stipend.
