Photo Assistant, Food & Wine

  • Job Description:
    The Photo Assistant will support the Photo Department with the shared goal of acquiring beautiful imagery for the Food & Wine brand (magazine, website, books). -- Coordinate shoot logistics: Book travel for crew; prepare shoot scripts; ensure all model releases are in; call in credits from prop stylists. --Ensure all contracts are signed and filed prior to publication and that all assignment letters are sent out in a timely manner. --Upload digital files; add metadata; order hi-res files. --Update monthly budget sheets. --Process invoices and follow-up on outstanding bills; update accruals list; prepare/submit expense reports. --Handle miscellaneous administrative duties for the Photo Department (send out magazines and PDFs to contributors; send props to set; check photo credits). --When time permits, call in pick-up photographs for front-of-the-book stories.

  • Job Requirements: --Prepared & Passionate: You've earned a Bachelor’s degree (classes in photography, art and literature are a plus) and have had experience working in a magazine's or website's Photo Department (knowledge of shoot production and creative image research is a huge plus). And you're passionate about photography and the subjects of Food & Wine covers: food, travel, wine/spirits, design, lifestyle. --Skilled & Organized: You have excellent Excel and Word skills as well as knowledge and experience with Mac software and hardware. You have a working knowledge of Photoshop; experience with Woodwing is a definite plus. And you're extremely organized with superb time-management skills. --A Detailed Multitasker: You're able to juggle multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously—frequently anticipating needs before they arise. You pay great attention to detail and work diligently to get it right—especially when it comes to such responsibilities as coordinating shoot logistics and processing invoices. --Communicative & Collaborative : You communicate clearly and directly in all interactions—both written and oral. You're a high-energy self-starter who wants to contribute to and collaborate with a team of talented, forward-thinking professionals.
