Associate Art Director

  • Job Description:

    Designs and assembles seasonal catalogs and collateral in keeping with the current trend and the Garnet Hill unique brand and vision for the future.  

    • Design and assemble seasonal catalog pages and collateral within established timelines

    • Works directly with the Art Director and VP of Creative on continuously evolving and enhancing the overall look of Garnet Hill print in accordance with brand, product offerings and industry best practices

    • Provide outside vendors guidance on collateral projects

    • Support the VP of Creative & Art Director in  working with Merchandising to gather, determine and maintain information on products that need to be shot for print

    • Work with the Creative team in recommending photography solutions for best print presentations

    • Works directly with Photo Studio and location Art Directors to ensure design and photography is in line with Garnet Hill's unique branding; editing photography as needed

    • Assist with art direction at NH studio, NY and/or on location when necessary

    • Attend outfit reviews and interpret views into cohesive designs

    • Paginate each catalog, giving particular attention to placement of new spreads, pacing and color distribution

    • Execute solutions for various print initiatives within the Creative team

    • Be a contributing member of the Creative team to plan, develop and brainstorm future projects

  • Job Requirements: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 2+ year’s experience in publication design Bachelors degree in Graphics Arts or equivalent work experience · Understanding of corporate identity, branding, layout, color theory, and typography for print TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED: · Advanced skills with latest versions of InDesign, PhotoShop, Acrobat, Illustrator SKILLS REQUIRED: · Strong design and creative skills · Extremely high attention to detail · Ability to take on multiple projects under tight deadlines and effectively communicate and prioritize projects with other departments · Excellent time-management and organizational skills · Flexibility to react to a fast paced environment · Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment
