    Washingtonian magazine, located in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a motivated and talented Staff Photographer to join its art team. The ideal candidate will have the chance to make an impact on our award-winning suite of publications: Washingtonian magazine, Washingtonian Bride & Groom, Washingtonian Mom and Washingtonian Welcome Guide. Responsibilities include shooting assignments for print, web and marketing. Candidates must have 2-5 years of publishing experience and a love of photography. This position requires a keen eye for detail and strong multitasking and interpersonal skills.

  • Job Requirements: -BA or BS degree along with 2+ years of professional experience in photo journalism and portraiture. -Solid magazine, newspaper, or picture agency experience preferred. -Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Bridge. -Ability to work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. -Excellent communication skills and can communicate your ideas in a lively, collaborative environment. -Provide accurate and informative captions. -Work effectively with reporters, editors and designers to provide the best possible presentation of the content. -Maintain timely communication with director of photography, reporters and creative director. -Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary and cover events for the marketing department. -Offer and develops story ideas. -Ability to produce thoughtful, engaging and storytelling content that meets Washingtonian standards for artistic quality. -Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with valid insurance.
