  • Job Description:
    Cincinnati Magazine is seeking a Photo Editor to start immediately. The qualified candidate should be an enthusiastic, ambitious, and creative thinker who works well within a collaborative team environment. Candidate will work on all aspects of pre/post-production for the creation of high-quality still photos for editorial and custom content for use on Cincinnati Magazine print publications and website. Candidate must be extremely organized and detail-oriented. They should have excellent communication skills, work under tight deadlines, be comfortable taking direction, and be knowledgeable of all aspects of photography. Candidate should be capable of taking photographs for print and web. The Photo Editor's responsibilities will include idea collaboration, planning, and executing the magazine and ancillary magazine's photography and photo illustrations. They will also need to source and maintain props.

  • Job Requirements: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Work closely with art department and editors - Research photo locations - Research stock photography - Research photo styles and help conceptualize photo shoots - Create call-sheets - Research and gather all photography props - Schedule photo shoots - Some photography, for print and web - Photo scouting for locations, people, and things - Confirming studio and location bookings - Maintain and organize the prop closet - Provide retouching and sizing on images for both print and web - Maintain photo credits and captions on multiple platforms and provide accurate record keeping Successful candidates will possess the following skills/abilities: - Sharp eye for great photography - Critical thinking skills; a healthy sense of skepticism; a fastidiousness in regard to details, deadlines, and organization; a calm-under-pressure demeanor (long hours are sometimes required); a keen sense of priorities; the ability to communicate clearly and diplomatically with parties of all sorts; and the ability to juggle multiple projects are a must! - Understanding of photography copyright - An ability to work independently, as well as within a team environment - Thorough knowledge of stock sites and agency sites and general photo research - Strong attention to detail and the capability to perform multiple tasks within a fast paced collaborative editorial environment - Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, InCopy is preferred Education/Experience: - 1 + years’ experience within photo dept. at a magazine or editorial photo internships within the publishing industry - A visual arts major with an interest in publishing
