Ad Age seeks a Senior Art Director with exceptional design and organizational skills to work with our talented newsroom team to plan, design and produce high-impact editorial pages, graphics, data and other related content that will tell stories in interesting, new and unique ways. Additionally, the role will serve to drive the design of Ad Age digital products, event collateral, motion graphics and other projects taken on by our studio where a designer's expertise can inform and enhance the experience of our brand. This person will report directly to the creative director of the newly-organized, all-platform Ad Age Studio which supports the editorial, marketing, product and business teams' creative needs.
The Senior Art Director must be able to produce conceptually-driven content in print, with strong sophisticated design and typography, while also working through day-to-day operations of an art department which is pursuing multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously. In addition, the candidate must have a strong background in working with and directing talent, photographers, agents, and illustrators, being very adept at assigning, producing and sourcing original and pickup imaging. A strong original assignment illustration portfolio is a must.
Finally, the Senior Art Director will collaborate with stakeholders outside of the department to complete projects ranging from digital product designs to special publications and supplements. This individual should excel at working both independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. And because of the nature of what we do, the successful candidate must be able to work from Ad Age headquarters in Manhattan and have schedule flexibility as work cycles up and down, particularly being available on nights when magazine pages are closing to press.
No relocation assistance is available; local candidates only, please.
