Conde Nast Internship Opportunity: Details/Photo

Conde Nast is offering a highly competitive and educational photo editorial internship for the Spring 2012 semester at Details magazine. The ideal Candidate should major in photography and have a keen interest in the multi-media industry. S/he should be at least, a college sophomore who will be able to receive credit for participating in this program.  The Intern Program will allow students to gain exposure to the industry and will provide a real-world experience that can be a supplement to classroom studies.

Specifically, an ideal Details intern candidate will be organized, responsible, and able to multi-task. Responsibilities will include assisting editors in all aspects of photo production, film/portfolio returns, photo research, ordering prints/high-res files, and the opportunity to help assist in shoot production.

All Conde Nast interns will have the opportunity to attend a Speaker Series throughout the semester, which will highlight the various divisions of the publishing/media business.  In addition, they will have the opportunity to participate in a company-wide educational project that will provide a hands-on learning experience that will last the duration of the semester.

New York Magazine Photo Department Unpaid Spring Internship

New York Magazine is offering an unpaid internship in the photography department for school credit only.

We are looking for someone organized, dedicated and excited to learn how a photo department at a weekly magazine operates. Interns should be very comfortable and effective communicating over the phone, in person, and via e-mail. Experience researching images with stock agencies a plus but not required. Photography, art communications majors or an interest in photography and editing preferred.

Interns should have a strong work ethic and be able to work independently, as well as take directions and work as part of a team. Intern responsibilities include some general administrative duties, photo researching, maintaining photo archives, scouting, assisting on photo shoots, assisting in our photographers studio and maintaining the props closet, calling in products, logging-in and returning artwork, and possibly undertaking some photography assignments if skills permit.

Good Housekeeping Photo Internship, Spring 2012

Good Housekeeping, a magazine of Hearst Corporation, is looking for a Spring photo intern for the Spring 2012 semester. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and very educational. Interns will learn about the daily activities of a large-scale magazine. This includes publishing, photo editing, photo research, and photo shoots (and much more). Interns will be primarily responsible for helping the photo team do photo research. However, interns will also be able to visit the in-house studio and go to photo shoots with the editors. In addition, the photo intern will assist the editors in various administrative tasks including contact with photographers worldwide. The intern MUST receive school credit and be able to work 3 days a week.

Photo Editor, Organic Gardening

Organic Gardening magazine is currently seeking a Photo Editor with a great eye for quality photography. The successful applicant will be self-reliant yet collaborative, hold a pro-active work attitude, and will enjoy being a part of a small, committed team. This position is located in Emmaus, PA.

It would be an advantage for the applicant to be fluent in color separation and correction processes and to be able to work collaboratively with the magazine's production dept to obtain the highest standards of print reproduction across all brand extensions.

Responsibilities include:
-Developing innovative concepts, assigning and producing photographic illustration for main edit features and front of book departments, working in close collaboration with the EIC, the Art Director and the other members of the edit, online and art team
-Coordinating and directing studio and location photo shoots for garden, food and lifestyle topics
-Identifying photographers and stylists who will bring a high quota of creative value to the brand
-Negotiating photography fees for both commissioned and stock-sourced images
-Acquiring first-quality imagery that meets the high content standards of the brand while maintaining budgets and negotiating effectively with vendors

Ideal candidate will possess:
-A minimum of five years of related work experience
-Highly detail oriented individual with good communication skills
-Digital online photo experience managing and researching stock imagery
-Daily photo production, retouching, and optimizing
-Adept at Adobe Photoshop
-Experience with Content Management Systems and keyword tagging
-Photo shoot coordination and experience a plus

Meredith-Spring 2012 Photo internship

Digital Imaging Specialist / Art Director

The ideal candidate must be creative with excellent communications and organizational skills. A strong interest in photography, magazines and technology is a must. Photo Assistant, BACKPACKER, AIM Outdoor Group

BACKPACKER magazine is seeking to hire a full-time Photo Assistant to fulfill images needs for BACKPACKER's print and digital media. 

Candidates should have previous experience in a photo department and thorough knowledge of Mac operating system. They must be extremely organized, flexible, and able to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.

Overall the duties are photo research, preparation and styling for product shoots, and administrative details.

Job Responsibilities -- Specific duties include but are not limited to:
-  Assist the Senior Associate Photo Editor with all photo department responsibilities
-  Edit incoming submissions to select the most beautiful, inspirational, and relevant images to match the locations in the text
-  Research beyond the traditional sources for photos (beyond stock agencies and photographers to: bloggers, hiking clubs, park/forest offices).
-  Research accurate and specific information for captions to provide the editors
-  Enter credits into layouts
-  Request and meticulously prepare hi-res images for the production department
-  Communicating with companies about PR photo needs

Minimum Job Qualifications:
-  Proficient in Adobe CS4, including Photoshop, Bridge and InDesign
