Foreign Policy, an award winning, fast growing online and print magazine that is part of the Washington Post Company, is seeking an energetic design leader to guide our world-class visual report.

The creative director leads a small visual team and works with editors to craft the overall design, photo and illustration efforts of Foreign Policy both in print and on digital platforms.

FP's audience averages more than 4 million unique visitors a month through its website, ForeignPolicy.com. The 42-year-old print magazine publishes seven print issues annually and has been recognized with multiple National Magazine Awards for both print and digital excellence.

The creative director is a hands-on role, focused on visual storytelling, not management and bureaucracy. Key requirements:

-	Crafting sophisticated, engaging magazine design -- from compelling covers to content-rich, multi-layered inside packages.

-	Assigning and directing freelance photographers and illustrators.

-	Collaborating with senior editors to produce the print magazine and key digital visual initiatives.

-	Working with the deputy art director to produce visual elements daily for ForeignPolicy.com

The ability to produce print and digital informational graphics is a big plus, as is an interest in international affairs and current events.

Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is essential. Knowledge of HTML, CSS and tablet design software would be a bonus.

This is senior leadership position requiring at least five years of experience at a major magazine, newspaper and/or digital site.
