Art Dept Internship- Hemispheres Magazine Fall 2011

Looking for outstanding young designers to be a part of our art department for fall term (Sept-Dec) of 2011. Candidates should have an deep interest in magazine publishing, be focused on a degree in graphic design and all internships MUST be for credit. As a member of the art department team you will be expected to contribute in the following ways:
*Attend daily or weekly meetings to plan upcoming issues, and brainstorm ideas for photo shoots, illustrations, and layouts.
*Assist with a variety of editorial tasks daily- from filing paperwork to running errands, to assisting on local photo shoots
*Work in InDesign to prepare magazine layouts and design additional iterations for our ipad version of the mag
*Assist the Art Director and Head Designer with production duties, illustrations for the magazine
*Complete research for illustrators/photographers for upcoming projects

Must be competent in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign to be considered for this position. You will be expected to be in the Brooklyn (Dumbo) office three days a week. Hours may vary depending on your schedule.

You will be expected to contribute to the art department in the following ways: *Attend daily or weekly meetings to plan upcoming issues, and brainstorm ideas for photo shoots, illustrations, and layouts. *Assist with a variety of editorial tasks daily- from filing paperwork, to assisting on local photo shoots *Work in InDesign to prepare layouts, templates *Assist Art Director and Head Designer with production duties, light design tasks *Assist Photo Editor with sourcing images, organizing samples, and gathering caption info. *Complete research for illustrators for upcoming projects Must be competent in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign to be considered for this position. Candidates should have a good eye for composition, be highly organized, able to multi-task and maintain a professional demeanor. You will be expected to be in the Brooklyn (Dumbo) office two to three days a week. Hours may vary depending on your schedule.
