Washingtonian Magazine, located in Washington, DC is currently looking for an enthusiastic art intern for the Summer 2012 semester. An ideal candidate has a strong interest in editorial design and a love for the DC area. The candidate must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Duties will include assisting the art department with designing layouts for FOB and BOB sections, creating graphics for washingtonian.com, and attending art/photo meetings to discuss planning for each month's issue. Previous experience at a magazine and/or knowledge of K4 is a plus, but not required.

Deputy Art Director

Washingtonian Magazine, located in Washington, DC, is looking for a Deputy Art Director with 5-7 years experience in magazine publishing. This position reports to the Design Director and is responsible for designing a mix of features, service packages and department pages, working with editors and the photo department to conceive and direct artwork for a variety of stories. Collaborating with the Design Director in guiding designers in the creation of additional department and front of book pages, as well as playing a key role in a planned redesign. The ideal candidate has a well-developed design style, strong typographic skills and an all around passion for magazines. Skills include a thorough knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and K4 with the ability to balance multiple projects and problem-solve under tight deadlines. Experience with digital mag creation for tablets a plus.
