Award-winning, technology magazine IEEE Spectrum is offering a paid (12 weeks,starting in May 2012) Photo internship in their NYC office. The ideal candidate must be creative with excellent communications and organizational skills. A strong interest in photography, magazines and technology is a must. Responsibilities will include photo research, silhouetting photos for print and apps, color correction and retouching. The candidate will work with the Photo Editor and Senior Art Director. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop required. Previous internship experience and web skills a huge plus. Candidate must be available to commit a minimum of 25 hours a week and either be enrolled in a college degree program where he or she has maintained a passing grade point average or have graduated and be within twelve months of that graduation from an accredited college or university.

Reporting to the Senior Art Director, the Deputy Art Director will be responsible for producing sophisticated layouts and art directing top-notch illustrators and photographers for its print and online editions. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop original concepts from content that's often technical, create innovative and elegant designs, and possess the organizational skills to take projects from start to finish.
