Art Production Manager

A major men's magazine is seeking an Art Production Manager. This individual will manage all phases of art production with pre-press vendors, the art department and retouchers. He or she will be responsible for routing editorial changes to the Men's Health creative department. The Art Production Manager will also work closely with team members to achieve common goals of on-time delivery while maintaining a high level of brand standards. Responsibilities include: Handling all proofing of Men's Health art with pre-press vendor Quad Graphics and outside vendors as well Managing photo credits between the photo and copy departments Flowing live text into layouts and assisting in shuttling the layouts through the production stages Updating the issue wall daily, printing layouts for display in the Men's Health creative department as well as compiling books for the Creative Director and Editor-In-Chief We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.

Freelance Designer

Large upscale men's magazine has an immediate opening for a full time freelance Designer to join an award-winning design team in our New York City office. Responsibilities include: -- work closely with the Art Director on all front-of-book pages and some feature design, from concept to final production -- art direct photography and illustration -- work with the Creative Director, Art Director and editorial team on a complete publication redesign Unlike other publications, our magazine design department is set up similarly to a design studio environment. FREELANCE DEPUTY ART DIRECTOR

MONEY magazine has an immediate opening for a freelance Deputy Art Director to assist the art staff in the design and production of both print and tablet versions of the magazine. This is a 4-month position starting on September 6 and continuing until the end of 2011. Requirements: > A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience at a major national publication > Excellent design and typographic skills with an attention to detail > Self-starter who can work independently as well as take direction > Ability to give art direction to outside illustrators > Excellent communication skills when liaising with art/photo staff and editors > Ability to remain professional under pressure and to manage tight deadlines > Expert at InDesign and a master of the grid > Mathematical disposition who understands baseline grids, consistency, and style sheets. > Strong information graphic experience a plus with the ability to plot charts in Illustrator > Tablet design experience is a plus, but not required > An interest in personal finance is a plus
