Editorial Designer

Metaleap Creative is seeking an editorial designer with 5-8 years of experience who is skilled, efficient, disciplined, outgoing and extremely collaborative. This person must be hyper-organized, extremely detail-oriented and have a thorough knowledge of the print production process. Exceptional skills in concepting, design and execution are also required.

Art Director

The ideal candidate would have at least two years in publication design and a keen interest in interior design or experience at a shelter or lifestyle publication. The Art Director will maintain the highest possible quality in photography and design while having a close understanding of the visual and editorial voice of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles by being an active participant in story planning and producing and styling photo shoots as well as implementing the design, layout, and production of all editorial material. Other duties include photo editing, scouting projects and managing freelance contracts. Candidates must supply a portfolio and samples of their work. Other duties -Design all editorial layouts and create and update style sheets, templates and libraries for all editorial material - Manage the coordination and scheduling of photo shoots by acting as a liaison between photographers, designers and editors on all aspects of the photo shoot. Negotiate rates and terms with freelance photographers to ensure photo shoots are within budget and in accordance with legal contracts. Responsible for all photo content upload; image retouching and color correction; and storage and archiving. Maintain all files and legal documents for the art department - Ensure that each issue gets shipped each month in a timely manner by trafficking page proofs; planning page requests; creating, uploading and approving PDFs - Work with the advertising team to design and produce special sections, contests, programs and show house materials - Work with the technical team to test enhancements, install updates, and provide feedback on new software, hardware and printing/proofing processes to ensure productivity/efficiency - Active in promoting and branding the magazine from designing house ads, invitations, inserts, posters and other collateral to representing the magazine at multiple functions and events - Collaborate with our corporate web team and editorial team while redesigning our web site

Senior Designer/Creative Director

Job Description This temporary-to-full-time-position is responsible for the design and management of all University of West Georgia (UWG) print communication, including advertisements, brochures, banners, merchandise and other items. This includes management of the design work of all direct-reports and interns within the design unit. The Senior Designer will drive the aesthetics, visual design, and/or layout of all presentation materials as well as web-based communications for clients. He/she will also safeguard UWG's brand identity guidelines and monitor all logo and wordmark usage. Responsibilities include: -Manage/art-direct creative projects from concept to completion and translate marketing objectives into creative strategies. Be highly effective in forwarding the brand look and style through all creative pieces. -Along with the marketing account manager, serve as the creative front-person in client meetings, and as key member of the marketing team. Create visual presentations to communicate and illustrate concepts, and present them to the client - Conduct trend research - Manage and enforce the identity guidelines for all UWG publications and merchandise - Manage and direct the UCM design team and manage/monitor the communication of team members with clients, suppliers, manufacturers, printers, colleagues and management -Manage the creative work of outside advertising agencies or other creative agencies - Provide documentation & other materials to support creative concepts -Train and direct team members in creative solutions. Skills//Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree with concentration in graphic arts or design preferred - 10+ years creative design experience necessary -5+ years project management experience required -Excellent illustration and creative design skills required -Possess new product project management skills and be an expert in bringing products from initial concept to launch -Knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign. Knowledge of MS Word / Excel a plus -Familiarity with Mac operating systems and with Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel) -Ability to interact cross functionally with marketing and other UWG units. Creative Director, Creative Loafing/Atlanta

The newly created Creative Director position at Creative Loafing/Atlanta will oversee all phases of the creative process to produce high-quality design -- primarily for the print publication while also overseeing Web design. In addition to producing distinctive design for the publication's cover and internal pages each week, he or she also will provide creative direction for the publication's marketing, public relations and advertising designs. The CD will report to the Publisher and Editor and will serve as liaison to CL's central Creative Services division in the production of editorial pages, marketing materials and client advertisements. He or she will work closely with the Editor to ensure that the Editor's vision is translated into vivid and distinctive design. The Creative Director also will work with the publication's Online Producer to design web products, services and content pages. Responsibilities: The CD will lead the development of all customer-facing creative and must understand and apply brand strategies in the execution of assignments. He or she must be able to think strategically and help shape compelling design and communications that break through clutter. The CD will work on a variety of platforms: · Print Creative -- The CD will oversee or execute the design of each weekly issue, with special attention to the cover. He or she will be responsible for a compelling visual product that will capture the attention of readers and accurately express the publication's brand identity. · Digital and Web Development -- The CD will help create websites for new digital products, with involvement in the process from conception through development. He or she will coordinate with internal and external developers to achieve cost-effective high-quality results that integrate well with current digital initiatives. · Digital Solutions/Social Media Champion -- The CD will possess a passion for digital media and communications. He or she will have demonstrated experience with social media platforms such as Twitter, Linked-In, Facebook, and You-Tube to drive brand relationships and traffic. · Branding -- In coordination with the Marketing Director, the CD will help oversee implementation of publication branding.
