Photography Editor Position

Consumer magazine publisher seeking experienced full time Photography Editor for luxury title. Successful candidate will have an insatiable passion for photography, at least five years experience at consumer magazines, and a keen eye for stunning images. Responsibilities include commissioning and directing shoots, researching online libraries, sourcing provided art, researching photographers' existing archives, conceptualizing visual story ideas, working closely with designers and editors, ensuring overall image excellence throughout title, managing budgets, and building relationships with photographers, agencies and stylists. Hemispheres Magazine Art/Photo Interrn

Now accepting intern applications for first term of 2011. All internships MUST be for credit. You will be expected to contribute to the art department in the following ways: *Attend daily or weekly meetings to plan upcoming issues, and brainstorm ideas for photo shoots, illustrations, and layouts. *Assist with a variety of editorial tasks daily- from filing paperwork, to assisting on local photo shoots *Work in InDesign to prepare layouts, templates *Assist Art Director and Head Designer with production duties, light design tasks *Assist Photo Editor with sourcing images, organizing samples, and gathering caption info. *Complete research for illustrators for upcoming projects Must be competent in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign to be considered for this position. Candidates should have a good eye for composition, be highly organized, able to multi-task and maintain a professional demeanor. You will be expected to be in the Brooklyn (Dumbo) office two to three days a week. Hours may vary depending on your schedule.

Production Assistant/Show Coordinator

Your primary duties will be related to our juried competitions. You'll be responsible for logging in entries into our database using FilemakerPro, preparing pdfs for judging, communicating with entrants, gathering the hi-res files of the winners, sending out winner announcements requesting credits, sizing images and making tiffs of all winning entries. In addition you'll be proofreading text and other administrative duties as related to our shows. We have three shows with 3x3 and four shows with Creative Quarterly plus our twice-annual 3x3 Magazine, our quarterly magazine and annual 3x3 Directory. In addition you will be responsible for updating our database, updating our 3x3 web site with each new issue, photoshop work, answering the phones and supervising our weekly mailings of magazines and books. Hourly salary is commiserate with abilities plus we do have a transportation allowance. Hours are 10:15am to 6:15pm M-F. We're located in Brooklyn, 45 minutes from Union Square on the F/G Train. The studio is located one block from Prospect Park.
