Associate Art Director for Houstonia Magazine

Houstonia magazine has a rare opening for a designer to work as part of a two-person art team at the top-selling city/regional publication in America's fourth-largest city. We are looking for a Associate Art Director with a strong aesthetic sensibility, a detail-oriented designer with a bold creative vision and a proven track record as a team player. Working directly with the Design Director, you will need a high level of design sophistication, a keen eye for photography, and exceptional typography skills, as this designer is responsible for designing editorial layouts for narrative and service features and regularly appearing departments. You will also be making assignments for photographers and illustrators, as well as editing and color-correcting photos. 3 to 5 years of design experience at a consumer magazine is a must, as is proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator and the ability to multitask and work with deadlines. Hands-on illustration ability is a big plus and web skills -- including design, video, and interactive media -- are also preferred, but not necessary.

Graphic Designer

We publish three magazines (2 bi-monthly and the other quarterly) and are looking to add a graphic designer to our design team. Graphic designers will work on layouts and photo editing for print media primarily and will also work on prepping files for our digital editions.
