Out Magazine: Art Department Internship, Spring 2012

Out Magazine is looking for a motivated Art intern with a passion for editorial design to work 2-3 full days a week during the Spring semester. Intern will work closely with the associate art director and will be responsible for assisting with front of book design and illustrations, photo and concept research, updating the mock-up book, attending meetings, and possibly assisting on still-life and celebrity photo shoots. Prior design experience preferred. This is an UNPAID internship. However, candidates are eligible for college credit if approved. Working knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign required.

Washingtonian Magazine Art Internship

Washingtonian Magazine, located in Washington, DC is currently looking for an enthusiastic art intern for the spring 2012 semester. An ideal candidate has a strong interest in editorial design and a love for the DC area. The candidate must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Duties will include assisting the art department with designing layouts for FOB and BOB sections, creating graphics for washingtonian.com, and attending art/photo meetings to discuss planning for each month's issue. Previous experience at a magazine and/or knowledge of K4 is a plus, but not required.

We are looking for journalism majors with a strong interest in the production side of print publications. Responsibilities include photo research, photo editing, page building and monitoring, chart creation, digital asset management and reporting. This internship pays $10.00 per hour and is based out of Variety's office in Los Angeles, CA.

Good Housekeeping Magazine is looking for a 2012 Spring ART INTERN. The right candidate will hold many of the same responsibilities as a full-time staff member, including conceptualizing art for stories, collaborating with the editorial and photo staff, and designing smart, attractive layouts. The intern will also have the opportunity to help style and prop in-house photo shoots, allowing he/she to follow his/her vision through from concept all the way to finished page. The candidate should be proficient in InDesign and Photoshop. Illustrator skills are a plus.

Martha Stewart Living Editorial Crafts Internship

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is currently seeking an Intern for the Editorial Crafts Department of Martha Stewart Living Magazine. This creative position will be responsible for assisting with tasks including organizing, shopping, crafting, sewing, and prepping photo shoots. The ideal candidate should have excellent crafting skills, be incredibly resourceful and comfortable traveling in and around New York City. This department develops all aspects of the crafts content for Martha Stewart Living magazine. This position is an opportunity to learn about the workings of an editorial team in a very creative environment. Interns are involved with the research and development of new craft projects and "how-to" content, the photo shoot and photo styling process, and the organizational aspects of working in a busy studio environment. We are open to candidates from all types of artistic backgrounds. Creativity, good craftsmanship skills and attention to detail are most important. However, candidates with machine and/or hand sewing skills or hand knitting skills are encouraged to apply. Please submit a resume and a URL with work samples or a PDF portfolio. Interns should be available to work 2 or more days a week in our West Chelsea office between September and December 2011. We are willing to work around a school schedule and start and end dates are flexible.
