Town & Country is seeking a Deputy Art Director to work directly under the Design Director.
The qualified candidate should have a firm grasp of typography, great attention for detail, and carry the ability to shape a project from conception to completion. They must posses the skill to design a number of sections and report on their status as well as delegate to/manage an art team, and be able to juggle multiple projects at once under tight deadlines.

Qualified Candidate Attributes/Required Experience:
- A sophisticated eye and high level of taste
- A strong understanding of the Design Director's aesthetic and problem solving
- Expert understanding of typography and color
- 5+ years professional graphic design experience in an editorial art department
- At least 1-2 years art directing experience preferred
- Expert in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- K4 experience is a MUST

Redbook Magazine 2011 Fall Graphic Design Internship

Redbook Magazine's art department is looking for energetic design interns for the Fall semester of 2011 in New York City. Candidates should be eager to learn about how the design department of a national magazine runs. Responsibilities include research, maintaining wall of printed layouts, and general administrative duties such as organizing reference material, photocopying inspiration material and occasionally assisting the Creative Director. Design work will be assigned based on ability. The candidates should be resourceful, responsible, and proficient in InDesign and Photoshop. Illustrator skills are a plus. Deputy Art Director

Washingtonian Magazine, located in Washington, DC, is looking for a Deputy Art Director with 5-7 years experience in magazine publishing. This position reports to the Design Director and is responsible for designing a mix of features, service packages and department pages, working with editors and the photo department to conceive and direct artwork for a variety of stories. Collaborating with the Design Director in guiding designers in the creation of additional department and front of book pages, as well as playing a key role in a planned redesign. Deputy Art Director - Cooking Light

Cooking Light is the largest epicurean magazine in the US and is owned by Time Inc. It has been undergoing a brand transformation for over a year which has been received very well by its audience. The perfect candidate for this spot will have a love and understanding of food and food photography. He or she will be an enthusiastic team player as we operate out of two offices, one in NYC and one in Birmingham, AL. They will also have excellent typographic and conceptual skills to create delightful and informative editorial. The deputy will be working very closely with the Creative Director and the Photo director in NYC.

Deputy responsibilities include:
-Design most features well stories from concept through to production with informative and delightful design solutions.
-Photo art direction of some stories
-Design some front and back of book pieces on a regular basis
-Assign illustration
-Point person for all layouts leading up to and during the close cycle between NYC and BHAM
-Work closely with production dept in Birmingham on paging and story lengths for pagination, as well as general continual updates?
-The Deputy AD, along with the whole team is expected to pitch in on other projects when necessary
-Deputy must possess full knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Woodwing
