We require at least five years' experience in news or magazine design, plus prior experience in photography direction for beauty and fashion. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -Oversee creative direction of The Kit's design and layout on all platforms -Provide on-set art direction for all major shoots and trains team to provide on-set art direction -Coach and inspire team of three designers -Collaborate with editorial team on art for stories and major shoots -Design covers and key features -Goal setting and performance evaluations of art staff twice per year -Oversee selection and commissions of freelance art contributors and identify new visual creators whose work should be featured in The Kit -Manage and works within art department budget -Along with the Editor-in-Chief, drive growth in staff skills so The Kit remains a digital media leader -Creative oversight of advertorials and special projects -Helps uphold the quality, values and characteristics of The Kit brand -Assists with other duties for the good of The Kit

Senior Art Director, Martha Stewart Living

Art Director

Art Director Responsibilities: • Work directly with edit team to layout pages and design elements of our websites, including designing entire websites under the guidance of the Creative Director. • Delegate layout of different sections and website channels to other designers/junior designers in the department. • Work closely with edit on design and layout for each page. • Work directly with production department on color correction, silo's, etc. to in preparation for printing. • Formulate basic layout design concept and conduct research to select and secure suitable illustrative material, or conceive and assign production of material and detail to artists. • Review, approve, and present final layouts to Creative Director for approval. • Perform duties of Graphic Designer to design art layouts. • Mark up, paste up, and finish layouts to prepare layouts for printing. • Other duties as assigned.

Assistant Photo Editor-Runner's World

RUNNER'S WORLD is seeking an energetic Assistant Photo Editor. Interested candidates should have a strong interest in photography, excellent computer skills, a knowledge of Photoshop and Excel, and one to two years experience working at a magazine or in a photo studio. A BFA in Photography or Design is preferred. Responsibilities include: • Working collaboratively with the Director of Photography to assist in the production of photo shoots • Assisting the photo team on various types of research, ranging from sports to food to lifestyle. Commission and direct photos and illustrations, conceptualize layouts and type treatments, and produce layout and pages in preproduction. Ensure the workflow between art and edit meets the daily and weekly deadlines and maintain all of the style sheets and templates within the K4 and/or Woodwing process.
