Freelance Art Assistant

Elle Decor is seeking a dynamic, driven individual to fill the role of freelance art assistant on the editorial team. Applicants must have a strong interest in both design and photography, possess great communication skills and a strong attention to detail, have excellent time-management skills, work with a budget-conscious mind with has a positive, can-do attitude.

This person should have working knowledge of InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). Internship to 1 year of experience desired, applicant should be able to start as soon as possible (preferably before December 12th).

In addition to assisting the creative director, the person would also be responsible for the following:
- Scanning all film, or printing out digital images in contact sheets and trim for editing
- Setting up and dropping in art for all layouts
- Creating issue preview PDFs
- Creating mock-up book for Editor in Chief
- Creating PDFs of pages for iPad previews

Also includes basic office duties such as: scanning, ordering supplies, printing layouts and updating film cabinets and server with all film requirements, and any administrative duties that are required.

We are a 10 issue a year publication under new leadership. you will be working directly under the photo director. ideal candidate can start on Feb 16th to over lap with the out going person. The ideal candidate can work between 20-30 hours a week in our West Chelsea office between January and May 2011. We are willing to work around a school schedule and are flexible regarding start and end dates. Candidates MUST be able to receive school credit and MUST have either completed their Junior Year of College or are enrolled in a Graduate or Advanced Degree program. We will pay a $20 daily stipend. Cooking Light Magazine Art Assistant

Cooking Light Magazine seeks an art assistant to join their creative team in NYC. This person works directly with the Creative Director, Art Directors, Photo Editor, and freelance designers. Responsibilities of the job include designing smart, thoughtful front and back of book layouts for the monthly magazine and assisting the rest of the team members. The assistant is encouraged to bring his or her own concepts to the process when presenting new designs. Fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, the ability to respond to art direction, attention to detail, and organization skills are a must. Other responsibilities include general Art Department administrative duties. This is a five-day-a-week, hourly position.

Town & Country Art/Photo Department Intern

The position is for college credit only. A minimum of two days is required. The intern is expected to begin late August/early September.

Assistant to the Art Department

New York Magazine seeks an assistant for the art department. The job entails supporting the magazine's art department in all capacities and acting as liaison with the editorial staff for future planning. Responsibilities include filing invoices and expenses, collecting and distributing manuscripts, commissioning illustrations, maintaining archives, scheduling appointments, researching visual ideas for upcoming stories, maintaining the mini board of the issue, fulfilling various administrative tasks, and running the occasional errand. The individual also serves as general assistant to the design director. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, and capable of juggling day-to-day administrative tasks with work on current and future issues. Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is a plus, as there can be some design and production work.

Marketing Design Internship

NYLON Magazine is looking for a Marketing Design Intern. Nylon is a small, fast-paced, fun environment so you'll get experience with many different projects.
