The Des Moines Design Studio is looking for news, sports and features page designers to help us produce compelling papers for our 21 newspapers. Part-time Senior Designer, Rolling Stone

PART-TIME SENIOR DESIGNER Rolling Stone is currently seeking a part-time senior designer. Qualified candidate should be an experienced, independent designer who works well in a team environment. Must possess strong typographic skills and a sophisticated design sense. Attention to detail and the ability to handle tight deadlines required. Responsibilities Part-time designer will design pages and assist in all aspects of production for various special issues under the supervision of the Design Director and design pages for the regular magazine when needed.

Senior Designer

Parents magazine is seeking a designer with 5+ years experience in editorial design to work on front-of-book and feature pages for our print edition. The Sr. Designer will work in our friendly and creative environment, directly with the Art Director and Creative Director, as well as collaborating with story editors. They will oversee their pages from design to close, order art, and check for accuracy. SD may assist Art Director with color and page proof review, and contribute ideas for evolving type and design of the magazine. The Sr. Designer will assign illustrations and communicate with illustrators and be in charge of sending out contracts. Periodically, SD will design special Parents brand projects (house ads, type for videos, presentations, etc).

Editorial Designer

Lauren Publications is seeking a mid-level graphic designer with a love for publication layout and smart magazine design. The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented and is an avid lover and consumer of magazines. The ability to juggle multiple projects is essential, and good time management is a must to handle strict monthly deadlines. Candidate must also work well with creative director and editorial staff to maintain a cohesive look and message throughout all publications. Essential Responsibilities: The editorial designer will work alongside and under the direction of the creative director. Designer will be responsible for much of the layout of three monthly publications, one quarterly publication and one biannual publication. The editorial designer will also be responsible for occasional marketing or advertising collateral and event signage, as well as some Web design and email marketing.

Designer for Digital Magazine

Huffington Post Media Group is launching a new weekly magazine for the iPad.

The Huffington Post is looking for a hard-working and talented editorial designer to join our growing art department designing weekly digital magazines. We're designing original magazines for tablets, not reformatting print pages. We are looking for a team payer who can work closely with designers, editors, and photo editors to come up with design solutions and great ideas. Attention to detail a must, as well as typography skills, organization, and ability to manage multiple design projects. 

Proficiency in Adobe CS5 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and must. Knowledge of K4 and experience with weeklies, redesigns and launches are a plus.

Entry Level Designer

Complex Media (Complex.com / Complex magazine) Reporting to Art Director Complex Media is seeking an entry level designer to join the art department immediately. Primary responsibilities include managing workflow in the art department, working closely with the Art Director (and editorial team), designing web layouts and skins for Complex.com and conceptualize treatments for content transitioning from the magazine to Complex.com. Applicants must have a degree in graphic design or comparable experience (magazine publishing a plus, but not essential), the willingness to work with the creative input of others, ability to work under deadline and multitask, and a genuine interest in Complex's subject matter.
