The creative director leads a small visual team and works with editors to craft the overall design, photo and illustration efforts of Foreign Policy both in print and on digital platforms. Publication Designer

Photo Director

Washingtonian Magazine is looking for an energetic, well-organized Photo Director with a passion for visual storytelling to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the editorial, art, and digital teams to guide the selection and presence of strong visuals in the magazine and website, as well as enhance the monthly print magazine with multimedia presentations on the magazine's website and tablet editions. This full-time position entails overseeing daily photo research from a wide range of sources, supervising staff photographers, an assistant photo editor, and interns, and spotting and recruiting new freelance photographers for the magazine. Nature Conservancy magazine, the flagship publication of the world's leading conservation organization, seeks a designer with 4+ years experience in editorial design to work on department and feature pages for print and digital editions. The Designer will assist the senior design team and help oversee the creation of each magazine issue from design to press. Spring Intern - Washington Post Express

The Washington Post Express is excited to announce its first full-time design internship for spring 2013. We're looking for an eager, well-rounded visual journalism student who's as much a great storyteller as he/she is a stellar designer to join our small newsroom (23) and even smaller visual team (4) for five months (January-May) to gain real daily news design experience and insight into all aspects of a mid-sized metro daily newspaper (180K Monday-Friday circ). The ideal candidate for this position is currently pursuing a journalism degree with a concentration in news design/presentation and has demonstrated experience through student or professional media. You'll be asked to do both pagination and create spot illustration solutions on a daily basis, so show us you're a well-rounded designer who can think on your feet and move from news to sports to features in the span of a few hours. We work in InDesign, and knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator is a must. You'll work full-time, Sunday-Thursday at our downtown DC office. We'll provide a stipend for the semester as well as a transportation (Metro) benefit. Washingtonian Magazine, located in Washington, DC is currently looking for an enthusiastic art intern for the Fall 2012 semester.
