The SPD-U Spotlight Shines on Adam Lowe

The SPD-U Spotlight Shines on Adam Lowe
This week we're continuing to showcase our 8 top winners from our SPD-U Spotlight Online Gallery Show. We'll be featuring a winner a day -- in alphabetical order, they are all equal winners -- until we show all 8, then we'll showcase some runners-up as well, so be sure to keep checking back in with us to see all the awesome work.

Today we're shining the SPD-U Spotlight on Adam Lowe ... see his winning piece larger and get some details from Adam after the jump.

SPD-U Spotlight Online Gallery Show :: Work #6*
NAME:  Adam Lowe
SCHOOL:  Rutgers University
2012-2013 STUDENT STATUS:  sophomore, graduating in 2015
INSTRUCTOR:  Atif Akin, Assistant Professor

SPD-U: While our judges saw and judged all the entered work without any information about the pieces, we'd now love to hear what type of publication or project this piece was created for.
ADAM:  I designed this layout for Trim Magazine, a Rutgers University fashion, culture, and lifestyle publication where I am Co-Editor in Chief and Creative Director. We are completely student-run and have a great team that spends the extra time needed to create a quality magazine.

SPD-U: What's one of the biggest lessons you learned about editorial design from this project and any others you may have worked on?
ADAM: An issue that I've had in the past is not letting myself have enough fun with layouts. With this project, I definitely became more illustrative and taught myself to look for links between the photography and what the possibilities of the design could be.

SPD-U: What are you up to now? Are you currently or do you plan to pursue a career in editorial design of any kind?
ADAM: I recently finished an internship at Esquire Magazine and am currently interning at Good Housekeeping Magazine. I've had such a great experience during my internships and plan on continuing my path of editorial design into a professional career.
