Creative Synergy Spotlight: Design Director Tim Leong As the date for our Creative Synergy event approaches (it's next Tuesday, the 22ndSign up now!), we're talking to each of our panelists about what they're working on and some ways they find inspiration... today we're featuring design director Tim Leong, but be sure to come back the rest of the week as we meet all the other panelists too.

So read on about Tim and then buy your ticket before the event sells out...

Tim Leong

Tim is the Design Director of Fortune Magazine where he helps steer the visual aesthetic of the brand. He was formerly the Director of Digital Design at WIRED Magazine, where he designed features and oversaw the design and interactives of the tablet editions. He was also the Design Director of Complex Magazine, where he led the magazine's creative team and helped relaunch the website. He also worked at Men's Health, is on the board at SPD, and his first book, "Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to the Comic Book Universe", is on sale now.

SPD:  What is your favorite inspirational site?

SPD:  What are you currently working on?
TIM:  I started at Fortune about 10 weeks ago. My job is to help the department run efficiently while also making sure the magazine's look is consistent and clean. I also design features for print and tablet.

SPD:  When you have creative block, what do you do?
TIM:  Take a walk. Take a nap. Just stop working on it. Caffeinate yourself. When you have a block, it means your brain needs a rest. Learning to read yourself is extremely helpful and will save lots of time in the end.
