Art Director, Food & Wine


James currently holds the position of Art Director at Food & Wine where he oversees the design of the monthly print magazine and tablet edition as well as Food & Wine books. In 2014, his work was recognized by the James Beard Foundation for achievement in Visual Storytelling. James graduated from the University of Connecticut, School of Fine Arts with a BFA in Communication Design and Sculpture.

Creative Director, Metaleap Creative


José is the founder and creative director of Metaleap Creative, a publication and brand design firm based in Atlanta. Over the years, he has worked on magazines as varied as ASME-nominated Paste magazine to D.C.'s city magazine--the Washingtonian--which won CRMA's general excellence award the year of the redesign. José began his career at Tausche Martin Lonsdorf after receiving his B.F.A at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1995. Over the years he has received a variety of accolades, but none as memorable as the "my hero" trophy crafted and given to him by his ten year old daughter. Born in Puerto Rico, and raised in Turkey, Utah, New Mexico and Florida, his love and curiosity of all things keeps him traveling and searching for inspiration in everything around him.

Design Director, Nylon and Nylon Guys

 

Renee is an art director and graphic designer based in New York. A graduate of the California Polytechnic State University, Renee's education in both photography and graphic design have led her to focus on editorial design for fashion and lifestyle magazines, including Surface, Men's Vogue, Domino, and now Nylon and Nylon Guys. Prior to Nylon, Renee served as the senior art director at Condé Nast Media Group conceptualizing content-focused creative for advertisers across an array of Condé Nast titles and platforms.

Creative Director,
Mother Jones

Before joining Mother Jones, Ivylise oversaw a redesign as design director of the New York Observer, and has served as the art director of the Village Voice, associate art director of the Miami New Times, and design director of NYO Magazine. She also applied her design and photography finesse at Showtime, Popular Science, and American Photo, and in 2010 she helped to launch People magazine's iPad app. And yes, she has a cat named Inspector Picklejuice.

Design Director, Popular Mechanics


Michael Wilson is the Design Director for Popular Mechanics where he enjoys making a mess of typography and lighting things on fire. Prior to that he was at Philadelphia magazine where he set a record by having nine photos of dogs in one issue. When he isn't fighting off his managing editor, you can find him on his motorcycle in the rolling hills of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
