Earlier this summer, Martha Stewart Weddings ended its quarterly print edition. After 24 years in print—first as an annual publication before moving to a quarterly—the brand will still continue online and will publish an annual Wedding Guide. We asked the quarterly’s final Creative Director, Michael McCormick, who spent the last 6+ years there to share his MSW experience.

This summer, The Rev Journal debuted a brand new redesign and business model to go along with the 2018 Grand Prix Season of Formula 1. They kicked off their relaunch by focusing on the city of Barcelona.  We chatted with a few key members of The Rev Journal team to give us an in-depth look into the relaunch, how their first issue of the season came together, and what's next for the journal. Earlier this year, Conor Purcell, founder of indie publications, We Are Here and We Are Dublin, published The Magazine Blueprint, a step-by-step guide to publishing your own magazine. He strived to make this book "The Ultimate Guide to Indie Publishing," and included interviews with over 50 magazine makers from mainstream, custom, and independent publications. Volkskrant Magazine's April 14, 2018 issue featured 10 split-run covers designed by "legends and aces from the editorial world." The theme of the issue was "creativity" and Mirko Borsche, Anthony Burrill/Ewoudt Boonstra, David Carson, Wim Crouwel, Paul Faassen, Erik Kessels, George Lois, Rodrigo Sanchez, Richard Turley, and Volkskrant Art Director, Jaap Biemans in collaboration with Anna Kiosse were tasked with tackling the subject. This year marks Food & Wine's 40th Anniversary and thus a yearlong celebration that includes featuring new chefs, revisiting "milestone moments," and honoring all things food and wine.  The recent March issue was also their photography issue with an emphasis not only on the food but also the photographers who capture those culinary moments. For Food & Wine's first ever photography issue, we spoke with the creative team behind the endeavor including Creative Director Winslow Taft, Photo Director Mackenzie Craig, and Guest Editor/Photographer Eric Wolfinger. Keep on reading to learn more about their collaboration process, how the issue came together, and what their ideal last meal would be.

The recent December issue of The California Sunday Magazine is the second themed issue in the magazine's history and centers entirely around a day in the life of today's teenagers. However, the issue didn't just cover teen culture from an adult perspective; teenagers were important collaborators and contributors as well. Creative Director, Leo Jung and Photography Director, Jacqueline Bates worked with teens in producing this issue by having their photographs and illustrations appear in the pages of the magazine while the Brand Studio's Creative Director, Alex Tieghi-Walker tackled the unique challenges of branded content by working on fitting a company's needs with the magazine's aesthetic. We spoke to Leo, Jacqueline, and Alex about California Sunday's special teen issue.
