The Diversity Dynamic: Episode 2 with Keisha Dean, Anton Ioukhnovets, and Wanyi Jiang

“Self-education basically is very important. Whether you are in the workplace
or outside of the workplace, it’s just step one.”

-Anton Ioukhnovets, Creative Director, 30 Point

“We are technically the media, so what are we saying?”

-Wanyi Jiang, Design Director, Marie Claire

Why are certain images and roles of People of Color magnified in the media? Why aren’t there more Black editors and creatives in this industry? How can you be a real advocate for change?

Watch the discussion about these topics and more in Episode 2 of The Diversity Dynamic recorded on August 21, 2020. SPD Members, Anton Ioukhnovets, Creative Director, 30 Point and
Wanyi Jiang, Design Director, Marie Claire, join SPD’s Executive Director Keisha Dean to have a candid conversation. Please ignore the Zoom glitches and have an open mind. It’s real talk to inspire real action.

The Diversity Dynamic with Keisha Dean, Krystal Atwater, and Victor Williams

“Diversity equals quality.”

-Keisha Dean, Executive Director, SPD

The first episode of SPD’s The Diversity Dynamic features SPD’s Executive Director, Keisha Dean, and SPD Board Members, Krystal Atwater, Senior Creative Producer, Photo & Video Studios, Fisher-Price and Victor Williams, International Art Director, TIME.

A few members of SPD’s Leadership Team recorded a low-tech discussion about diversity on June 26, 2020.  Yes - the screen freezes at some point during the recording.  But they keep going because it’s a real conversation. No pretense. No frills. Just honesty and some humor. Watch it. It’s worth it.

You can watch the video Krystal mentions about Insecure and its cinematography from Variety here.

To hear more from Krystal and Victor check out Krystal’s episode on SPD’s Who The F Did That? Podcast with Brad Smith here and Victor’s Off The Record event with Thomas Alberty here.
