Job Description: The Digital Designer is responsible for creating and executing a consistent design vision across all verticals (fashion, beauty, lifestyle) of the Editorialist’s editorial content. That will span the site, social media, newsletters, assets for video, and some branded content.

You will work with our team of editors, producers, and strategists to build an engaging, user-friendly, and luxurious visual experience for our readers through photography, graphic design, and video. You’ll have a strong voice in the UX and UI of our site, particularly with our content and commerce offerings.

Responsibilities
This role breaks down into:

  • 10 percent: Daily programming the home and landing pages, maintaining the overall aesthetic of the site

  • 15 percent: Planning and process of bringing thematic unity for:

    • Story templates

      • Franchise branding and bugs

      • Award packages and branding

      • Commerce elements to bolster conversion

      • Newsletter design

      • Special package pushes and editorial campaigns tied to our edit calendar

      • Carrying elements through any content’s life as it ports across platforms

  • 25 percent: Evolving our style guide, visual vision, and UX and UI.

    • Working with our edit and design teams to help create a visual guide for photo selections, social content, illo guidelines, and more.

    • Working with our engineering and product teams on UX and UI design features

  • 50 percent: Image sourcing and creation

    • Photo research (work within Getty Images to ensure we’re getting the most from our account)

    • Work with editors and styling team on how to capture and create original photography

    • Illustration/graphic design creation and/or assignment, both with our in-house graphic design team and externally

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in design, with a strong focus on digital platforms

  • 3+ years of experience in publishing or commerce industry

  • BFA or BA in Graphic Design or related field

  • Must be very fluent in Adobe suite software, CMS fluency (WordPress, specifically),

    • Must have some UX and UI experience, preferably with content and/or commerce sites
