Job Description: Fairchild Fashion Media, a division of Penske Media Corp., is looking for a freelance designer to work with our New York office team. In this fast-paced integrated editorial, marketing and experiential environment, the designer will create unique and compelling print and digital designs and collateral on a wide-ranging scope of programs and platforms.

This position will report directly to the Creative Director.

You will:

  • Assist with design, production and printing of editorial, reports, advertising and marketing promotional campaigns, sales materials, and program/event collateral and signage

  • Coordinate projects including native advertising executions, conceptual mocks, email blasts, digital advertising units, engaging sharable social content, and branded print and digital content

  • Work with the brand’s team to manage the workflow of designated projects

  • Maintain a good source of creative resources

Job Requirements:
You have:  

  • Related BA/BS degree and 1+ year’s related work experience

  • Thorough knowledge of conceptual design—both for the digital and print market, including the production processes and procedures

  • Expert use of Adobe Creative Suite; PP and AE knowledge a plus

  • Knowledge of UX best practices, html/CSS, and product/prototype software [Sketch, Xd, etc…]

  • Ability to set and manage multiple concurrent projects and meet their deadlines

  • Proven people and project management/organizational skills; able to work in a team environment and within flexible work parameters

  • Must have excellent communication skills

  • Must have your own computer and relevant software to work mostly offsite

  • Must be flexible to attend onsite meetings if required

Senior Designer, HBR Magazine

Job Description: With minimal oversight and guidance, the senior designer should be able to create brand appropriate packaging and design in line with the established creative vision, for all pages and templates within the HBR magazine and its affiliated products. In addition to 6 regular issues of HBR, the senior designer will play a critical strategic role in managing the design and production of 4 single topic issue magazines (under the OnPoint brand) and the occasional SIP (Special Issue). 

Responsibilities include: 
• concept and ideation,
• stakeholder communication,

• designing pages and templates 
• production mark ups and color correction,

They should have a minimum 5+ years of print art direction and design experience, ideally at an editorially driven publication. 

Digital: 
The magazine senior designer should have a deep understanding of how the print creative content scales into a variety of social and digital platforms. This may include assigning (or creating) supplementary animation and video, assigning alternate versions of art, and having a deep familiarity with sizes, aspect ratios and content requirements for relevant platforms and devices. 

Data Visualization: 
The senior designer should have a working knowledge of a variety of information graphics structures, be able to discern whether or not data and the underlying message will translate visually, be able to engage in conversations regarding the relevance of data visualization in the context of a story.

Job Description: The Washington Post seeks two designers for a new digital travel initiative. These roles require well-rounded visual journalists who can design, illustrate and art-direct across platforms.

Job Requirements: We are looking for designers who are excited about travel journalism. Successful candidates must be highly organized and able to produce quality work in a fast-paced environment. These designers will be expected to design or illustrate social images for several stories, plan Instagram posts and work on longer-term projects.
