Freelance Web Designer, Decker Design
/Job Description: This freelance position may lead to staff. Decker Design is seeking a creative web designer to join our team. You must demonstrate experience in designing websites from wireframe to finish—no student work please. We are a boutique design firm that builds professional service brands—a website is often the most important deliverable. We are looking for a designer with a strong editorial background on digital platforms. Many of our client produce scores of expert content which gets lost on their platforms due to poor UX.
Our design work is based on research and strategy, ensuring strong user engagement, and resulting in a powerful, long-lasting expression of our clients’ brands.
You must be a strong systems thinker. You will be responsible for creating visual designs from wireframe to concept stage to production-ready files. It is necessary to understand brand systems and how digital communication fits. This is a hands-on position. You should have a passion for design—stunning, elegant, forward-thinking design. You will report to the Associate Creative Director and collaborate with our account manager, and external developers to create innovative concepts and approaches, as well as overseeing project design all the way through execution.
Decker Design is a close-knit team of designers that is currently working remotely for the foreseeable future. You need to be self-directed but happy to collaborate with the team. We work on multiple projects at one time and you need to be skilled to work at every stage of the project lifecycle. It’s a fun and friendly environment, but we work hard to produce work that is strategically focused and beautiful.

Job Requirements:
Responsibilities
Create vibrant, impactful, and refined visual designs for web and interactive media based on creative strategy and understanding of client goals.
Clearly communicate and present designs to stakeholders and internal team members.
Collaborate with the team to ensure consistency of designs across various media.
Create sitemaps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that clearly communicate site structure and functionality.
Create development specs and collaborate with developers to implement designs accurately for the web.
Design websites in responsive layouts that work on all screen sizes.
Understand how branding is translated to web and interactive media.
Brainstorm strategy and design concepts in collaboration with the team.
Qualifications
A strong understanding of UX/UI best practices for web and mobile.
Strong typography
3–5 years experience working in a digitally-focused design role.
Experience working on full project life-cycle: developing concepts, iterating on design, and supervising developers.
Adobe Creative Suite, Figma
