Senior Photo Editor, Manifest
/Job Description: Manifest is hiring a Senior Photo Editor with agency experience to join our team. The Senior Photo Editor’s primary responsibility is leading and managing all photo shoots for multiple publications throughout the year. With more than 120 custom shoots annually, the Senior Photo Editor must be masterfully organized, personable, and self-reliant. Responsibilities include managing various client budgets with an expectation of projects coming in on-budget and on-time, facilitating all invoicing related to the photo shoots, managing production and talent contracts/usage and familiarity with Adobe creative suite applications. This role plays a key part in optimizing operational processes for greater efficiency. The annual salary range for this role is $85k-$100k in base pay, exclusive of any bonuses or benefits, and the base pay offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on experience, skills, training, certifications, education, etc., and will be informed by market data. This role can be based (hybrid) in our Chicago office, and reports to the SVP, Head of Production.
Responsibilities:
Schedule and oversee over 120 custom photo shoots annually to support six quarterly publications and custom content efforts.
Collaborate with internal art, editorial, account, and project management teams to fulfill all photo-related client needs and ensure proper approvals.
Collaborate with client customers to set up custom photo shoots; identifying shoot locations and logistics.
Identify, recruit, and manage freelance photographers.
Direct and produce photo shoots, including casting, prop styling, location scouting, and logistics; develop production schedules to meet deadlines.
Research and procure stock and rights-managed photography and illustrations; manage licensing, purchasing, and pricing negotiations.
Oversee multiple concurrent projects while adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
Manage photo budgets and vendor relationships; negotiate contracts and review invoices.
Ensure all visuals—including photos and illustrations—support brand consistency and comply with copyright laws.
Occasional travel may be required based on client needs.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with a diverse network of photographers, studios, artist agencies, and industry professionals.
Collaborate closely with editors and creative teams to brainstorm, pitch, and execute innovative visual storytelling concepts.
Contribute to photo scoping for new business and organic growth initiatives.
Job Requirements:
10+ years experience as a Photo Editor in advertising/marketing agencies required.
Strong verbal and written communication.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Skilled at prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Proven deep, expedient research skills (with agencies, individual contributors, archives, libraries, social media).
Focused on driving business outcomes and process improvements.
Proficient in: Adobe Creative Cloud, with advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop, Keynote and related presentation tools.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
May require client travel.
Hybrid: 3 days per week in office.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience required.
Portfolio of produced work a strong plus.
