DEADLINE
Friday, March 25th, 2022 at 5:00PM ET

SPD must receive all student entries, completed entry forms, and payment receipts by March 25th at 5:00PM ET.

Make sure to include your entry form and payment receipt with your submission as one (1) PDF. You must fill out the entry form found in the call for entries.

ENTRY FEES
SPD Student Members get their first 3 entries FREE! (Though student members can enter more than that...if you do, any additional entries will cost $10 each.) Please note: Even though they're free, you must register your 3 free member entries HERE.

If you're not a member but would like to join, you can purchase your SPD Student Membership and register for your 3 free member entries at the same time HERE.

Otherwise, each entry is $10.

You can pay your entry fees online HERE.

YOU MUST INCLUDE THE RECEIPT WITH YOUR ENTRY. If we cannot find proof of payment or a valid SPD Student Membership, your entries may be disqualified.

PRIZES
The first, second, and third place winners and runners-up in Design, Photography, and Illustration will be featured online at spd.org. Second and third place winners will also receive a 20-minute portfolio review with a board member.

In addition to being featured online, first place winners will also receive the following:
DESIGN: $1,200 + Summer 2022 Mentorship
PHOTOGRAPHY: $1,200 + Summer 2022 Mentorship
ILLUSTRATION: $1,200 + Summer 2022 Mentorship

It’s a tie! We're excited to wrap up our announcement of our 2021 Student Competition winners today with one of our 1st-place winners in Design, Nina Avery. You can see Nina’s winning work in the 56th Annual SPD Awards here.

Join SPD for an inspiring virtual showcase of work and lively conversation with three accomplished editorial talents, just a handful of years into their careers. Their stories, and paths to early successes, will inspire young creative professionals and students alike.

PANELISTS

Chloe Scheffe is a Seattle-based independent designer & art director. Clients include GQ, Nike, Tribeca Film Festival and Wired. Previous design jobs include Here Magazine, Away, The New York Times Magazine, Metahaven, Other Means and Pentagram. Chloe has a BFA in graphic design from RISD (‘15)

Rose Wong is an illustrator based in Brooklyn, NY. Select clients include The New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, Metropolis, Jacobin, The New Yorker, Bon Appétit, The Commonwealth Fund, Shopify, Forbes, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, MIT Technology Review and Teen Vogue. Rose has a BFA in Communications Design, emphasis in illustration, from Pratt Institute (‘14)

Mamadi Doumbouya is a New York City based photographer, by way of Guinea, specializing in portraiture, lifestyle, and storytelling. Clients include The New York Times Magazine, GQ, Forbes, Harper's Bazaar, Port, The New Yorker, Refinery29, Rolling Stone, Bloomberg Businessweek, Vanity Fair, InStyle, Wired, Apple and Bon Appetit. His work has been recognized by ASME, among others. Mamadi studied liberal arts at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
